Biometric Enrolment Station for Post Office Ltd.
Brief
Post Office Ltd. were developing a new service for the UK government to collect the biometric data for new driving licences and temporary visas.
In order to facilitate the collection of customers’ biometric data a new terminal was required to be installed in Post Office branches.
RED Design Ergonomics were engaged by Post Office to input to the development of the Biometric Enrolment Station
Process
Our input started with a review of competitors' proposals
We then undertook user testing of the selected supplier's proposed equipment
We input to the development of the BES - ensuring the usability and accessibility was properly considered.
Our input continued to the implementation of the BES and the design and layout in branches and at the staff counter workstation.

Outcome
The BES was successfully rolled out across the network of Post Office branches.
The BES is still in use for the application of driving licences in the UK.
